Most foreigners travelling to the Middle East do so for pilgrimage or 5* holidays. Not me. I spent 5 days in the Middle East having vacated a 6-week period of international volunteering in a school in Kathmandu, Nepal, with a double case of anaphylaxis, that is, a severe allergic reaction. I brought forward my return flight home (at great expense), but incurred a further allergic reaction on the plane and so was grounded before I could make the connecting flight from Doha to London. The following photos describe my soloing in the Qatari capital after I was released from a local hospital. This is not your typical travel story.
